Dashboard Fireplace to be Offered on 2018 Ford Expedition

Hot enough to slow-cook a muskrat, says a Ford engineer

That dark and stormy night will seem a whole lot warmer for occupants of the 2018 Ford Expedition, thanks to an optional electric fireplace mounted in the dashboard of the redesigned full-sized SUV.

Ford engineer Destry Yuggums said the flames are so realistic looking that a member of a focus group evaluating the Expedition cracked the screen while attempting to throw a log on the fire. “Nice guy, but a bit of a brick,” he said.

According to Yuggums, the fireplace is rated at 3,000 BTU per hours. “That’s enough to slow-cook a muskrat,” he added, although we wished he hadn’t.
