2018 Chevy Silverado Marks Return of Pop-Up Headlights
Everything old is new again. At least when it comes to retractable headlights, which, as this photo suggests, appear to be making a reappearance.
On Tuesday, Parksplug shutterbug Gawain Bowlsby snapped this spy photo of a pop-up headlamp-equipped 2018 Chevy Silverado undergoing testing in the hills somewhere over there.
“I never thought we’d see pop-ups again,” said automotive industry consultant Lavender Ann Shunk upon seeing the photo. “They were phased out years ago because of pedestrian safety concerns.”
Lumley O’Peek knows well the dangers of retractable lamps. The headlight outline of a 1989 Honda Accord that struck the 28-year-old apprentice meatball roller more than 15 years ago is still visible on his forehead. “It bothers me, but I guess it’s better than having a Honda logo permanently etched into my head,” opined O’Peek.
