Mustang Sales Soar in Germany; BMW Rushes to Restyle 4-Series
The Ford Mustang is officially a hit in Germany. In fact, last month, it was that country’s top selling sports coupe. America’s ponycar even outsold the Citroen Jumpy in Germany, which, to be fair, is a van, not a sports coupe — we just enjoy saying the name over and over with a dreadful French accent.
Anyway, Ford’s success reportedly has BMW crying, “Heilige Scheiße!“….and heading back to the drawing board for some revisions to the 4-series coupe.
Parksplug’s European correspondent Christoph “Chuckles” McPhunt yesterday snapped a spy photo of what he thought was a Ford Mustang, but turned out to be a 2017 BMW 4-Series.
“I asked the driver if it was a Mustang,” Chuckles related. “He tossed his coffee at me and barked, ‘Nein, nein, das ist kein Pferd. Das ist Vier Serien, du nincompoop!’ and drove off.”
Chuckles added, “It did sound like a Vier Serien, not a Pferd.”
