Lexus Claims its J.D. Power Trophy is Actually a Home Depot Lamp

Three months ago, Lexus was elated when the company bested all other automakers in the 2017 J.D. Power Dependability Study.

But that jubilation has now turned into anger and resentment.  Lexus claims that rather than being a $30,000 trophy containing 18-carat gold as they were told, the prize is actually an inexpensive Home Depot ceiling lamp.

“I was at Home Depot picking up a hose bib and a Homer bucket last week when I saw it,” explained Gelato Yumbuzz, Lexus’s Vice-President of Marketing. “It was on Aisle 40 hanging from the ceiling.  I thought, ‘Hey, that’s our trophy’,” she said.

J.D. Power has declined to comment on the allegation, and Yumbuzz said Lexus has already returned the lamp to Home Depot.  “We got a store credit for $89.95 instead of cash because we didn’t have a receipt.”
