Honda Hopes to Have This Civic Type R Convertible Ready In Time For 2024 Eclipse
Honda is working hard to produce a convertible version of its aggressive new Civic Type R in time for the next U.S. full solar eclipse in 2024.
According to Honda employee Muley Boppert, who asked that his name not be disclosed, topless versions of both the coupe and four-door Type R will be available.
Boppert reports the car’s lightweight two-piece folding plastic top is manufactured by Tupperware and is both car wash and dishwasher safe. Photos indicate it’s basically a larger version of Tupperware’s popular FridgeSmart storage container lid.
“A convertible is a wonderful place to experience a total eclipse,” gushed astronomer Suede Tingling, who lost hearing in one ear when her protective glasses fell off during a 2011 partial lunar eclipse.
