Exclusive! Movie Car Shootout: Mustang Bullitt vs Camaro Spicoli!
Chevy announced today it will produce the long-rumored Camaro Spicoli in an attempt to steal some of the Mustang Bullitt’s thunder.
As you know doubt know, or maybe you don’t, Ford recently introduced an updated version of the Bullitt, which celebrates the 50th anniversary of the iconic Steve McQueen film that, to this day, is revered by automotive enthusiasts and unemployed puppeteers alike.
Not to be outdone, however, Chevrolet says the Camaro Spicoli also pays homage to a momentous film –1982’s “Fast Times at Ridgemont High,” which the American Film Institute ranks at #137,406 on its list of the Top 100 Films of All Time. “Jeff Spicoli truly is one of filmdom’s great characters,” Chevrolet spokesperson Stickney Barker told Parksplug, adding that Filmdom is a small town near Decaturville, Missouri .
Standard equipment on the 2019 Camaro Spicoli includes 1979 lookalike wheels, striping, T-top roof, as well as empty beer cans and cigarette butts scattered about the vinyl interior. In addition, the car’s 6.2 liter V-8 has been detuned to produce the same 175 horsepower the ’79 model did nearly 40 years ago.
