The Fusion Raptor That Ford Almost Built

You already know that Ford is killing off its entire car lineup in the U.S. except for the Mustang, right?  But were you aware the company nearly green-lighted a Raptor version of the Fusion before ultimately deciding to euthanize the aging mid-size sedan?

“It’s a real shame,” Tambo Bookaby said, blinking back tears as he scratched the inside of his therapy pony’s left ear with a Leatherman tool.  “I think Ford would have sold a million of them.  Damn, it was a cool car.”

Bookaby, once an avid off-roader, had to give it up due to an injury he suffered when he rolled his lifted Suzuki Grand Vitara while backing it out of the garage.  His head struck the raised air snorkel he had mistakenly installed inside the vehicle rather than on the outside. Now he spends his days creating a backyard gum wall and pushing his motorless Mahindra riding mower up and down the sidewalk.  But he’s right, the Fusion Raptor (“Fuptor?) would have been cool.
