Toyota Considering Changing Tacoma’s Name Following Spelling Snafu
TACOMA MIGHT BECOME THE TAMOCA, SAYS ANONYMOUS SOURCE
Toyota apparently believes it would be less costly to change the name of the Toyota Tacoma to “Tamoca” rather than remanufacture more than 30,000 tailgates to correct a spelling error.
That’s according to an anonymous source who attempted to disguise his voice by talking through a handkerchief, which seems strange since he was sitting in our office at the time.
According to the source, Toyota management blamed lead tailgate stamper Dewey Fulk for the spelling error and fired him.
“Dewey ain’t exactly what I would call a spellist,” said the source. “Last year he did the same thing on the Camry line…about a thousand cars went out with Cramy emblems on them.”
