Hyundai Misunderstood NFL Contract, Wants Out

Less than a year after Hyundai became the official sponsor of the NFL, the South Korean automaker says it made a mistake and wants out of the contract.

Hyundai officials tell Parksplug they thought NFL was an abbreviation for the National Fierlijeppen League, which promotes the Dutch sport of canal jumping.

“We really don’t like or understand American football,” Hyundai spokesperson Ji-Yoo Youn told reporters.  “However, there are many canals in South Korea,” she said, “and many of our citizens have great interest in jumping across them.  Many in North Korea seem interested, too.”

NFL spokesman Ryker Weaver, who is recuperating from yet another concussion, answered, “I enjoy Fondue,” to each question we posed to him about Hyundai’s decision.  We’ll try again later.
