Porsche Acknowledges Boxster Drivers Must Wear This To Achieve Advertised Aero Numbers
Porsche has long boasted of the Boxster’s low drag coefficient (Cd). But at a news conference today, the German manufacturer’s aerodynamics engineer admitted the Boxster’s claimed .32 Cd is only possible if occupants are outfitted with Porsche’s slippery new Luftkopf helmet.
Despite being recently released, the vegan carbon fiber Luftkopf has already become a fashion accessory among Porschephiles, with many owners wearing their helmets to tasting events at trendy Kombucha cocktail lounges or Bokwa classes.
The device, which is sold only by Porsche dealers, is priced at $4,200 for the basic version, or $7,600 for the Sport Chrono version, which includes Porsche’s patented Dynamic Chin Strap, LED dome light, and paint that matches the car’s brake calipers.
