Like Them or Not, Man Bun Helmets Have Gone Viral
Ever since top Motocross rider Testy Smeltz began showing up at events last year wearing his trademark man bun helmet, fans and other riders followed suit, leading Smeltz to start a company to manufacture the so-called Sun-Bun helmet.
“You really can’t wear a motorcycle helmet if you have a man bun,” he explained. “So when I built my first helmet, I simply cut a hole in it so my bun could protrude.”
According to Smeltz, the Sun-Bun helmet has come a long way since then; the newest iteration is aerodynamically designed to keep insects off the bun. An adjustable bun hole is optional.
