Always Wanted a Family Truckster? Keep Your Fingers Crossed!

For all of you who have been champing at the bit — and even those who have incorrectly been chomping at the bit — to own a Wagon Queen Family Truckster of your own, we have good news.  Maybe.

While Ford denies it’s planning to add the Truckster to their lineup anytime soon, Parksplug has spied what appear to be a couple of prototypes running around downtown Verde Dientes.

With the Country Squire wagon long gone, Ford was left with two platform options for the Family Truckster:  A crossover or SUV — probably the Explorer — or the Flex.  The automaker chose the Flex, which we believe was the right decision as the polyurethane faux wood panels compliment its boxy shape.

According to Ford insiders, several colors will be available, not just the metallic pea green hue seen on the 1979 Truckster in National Lampoon’s Vacation, although that’s still our favorite.  They also claim the roof rack is strong enough to carry two deceased persons, not just one like the old wagon.  And the rear bumper features an easy-snap dog leash attachment as standard equipment.

If you can’t wait to park a new Family Truckster in your driveway, send Ford an email and let them know.
