Ferrari Unveils Slower, Cheaper “Sortafast” Model
Ferrari today announced it will build a less-expensive stablemate to its stunning and blindingly-fast 812 Superfast coupe. The Sortafast is the result of CEO Sergio Marchionne’s plan to increase Ferrari sales by introducing an entry level model.
While the $315K Superfast is pushed well past 200 mph by its 789-horsepower V-12, under the hood of the new Ferrari Sortafast is an uprated version of the turbocharged 1.4 liter engine from the Fiat 500 Abarth.
The inline four is rated at 248-horsepower and 112-lb ft of torque at 9,000 RPM, and will power the the Sortafast from 0 to 60 mph in about the same amount of time it takes to sing “When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that’s amore,” says Ferrari spokesperson Zucca Grasso.
Some details, including the price, were not disclosed, however, we do know the Sortafast shares a platform with the Fiat Weekend compact crossover and will be built alongside it in Brazil.
