Ford to Target Religious Off-Roaders With 2019 Rapture Pickup

Despite the fact that the number of Americans who describe themselves as “pretty danged religious” has fallen off in recent years, Ford believes there’s a market to be tapped among what it calls “devout off-roaders and mudders.”

So next year, the automaker will introduce the F-150 Rapture, which will join its existing stablemate, the Raptor.

“We think Jesus probably would have driven a Rapture,” said Ford chaplain and suspension engineer Dilaudid Usoz.

Wooden pew seats are standard equipment on the Rapture

Ford says the Raptor and Rapture are quite similar apart from the latter’s wooden church pew seats and larger sunroof that allows “instant occupant egress.”

According to Usoz, Ford also briefly considered building a faith-oriented vehicle based on the E-Series van called the E-VANgelical.
